5-DAY DIAGNOSTIC FIXED FEE

Dynamics 365 CE Health Check

A fixed-scope, 5-business-day audit of your D365 CE environment — configuration, automation, security, reporting, adoption, performance, licensing, and Field Service, delivered through direct senior Dynamics 365 CE expertise. You get a written findings report, a risk register ranked by business impact, and a 90-day roadmap for what to fix first.

What it is: a fixed-scope, 5-business-day diagnostic of your Dynamics 365 CE environment. Best for: organizations that already run Dynamics 365 but suspect configuration, automation, security, reporting, adoption, performance, licensing, Field Service, or maintainability problems. It does not assume you need a reimplementation — the goal is to make the environment you already own work. Price: fixed fee, agreed before we start — no hourly billing, no surprise scope. You walk away with: a written findings report, a risk register, a quick-win list, and a prioritized 90-day remediation roadmap, reviewed together on a 60-minute executive debrief on day five. If you start a Dynamics 365 Support Plan within 30 days, the full fee is credited toward it.

What you receive on day five

Every deliverable is scoped before we begin. Nothing is held back for a future phase — you get the complete package at the end of the engagement.

  • Environment review — the structural shape of the Dynamics 365 CE deployment: modules in use, customization footprint, and where it diverges from standard CE
  • Configuration review — entities, fields, business rules, and OptionSet drift measured against how the environment is actually used
  • Automation review — Power Automate flow failure rates, classic workflow inventory, and plugin behavior, including calls to deprecated APIs
  • Security review — security roles, teams, and admin sprawl, including where System Administrator is being used as a catch-all
  • Integration observations — connector authentication status, sync error queues, and duplicate record creation across systems
  • Data-quality observations — duplicate records, stale leads and opportunities, and model integrity issues
  • Prioritized findings — every issue identified, organized by category, with what we found, why it matters, and the effort to resolve it
  • Quick wins — items fixable in under two hours, separated out so you can act on them immediately after the debrief
  • Risk register — findings ranked by business impact, not technical severity — what actually affects revenue, compliance, or operational reliability
  • Recommended 90-day roadmap — what to fix first, second, and third, and roughly how long each takes
  • One-page executive summary — a condensed version for stakeholder or board communication
  • 60-minute executive debrief — we walk through everything together and align on next steps

Eight areas, one environment

This is the short version. The full inspection checklist — including the specific red flags we look for in each area — is published on the blog.

Security roles & access control

Who can see, edit, or delete what — and whether System Administrator is being used as a catch-all for users who just need elevated access.

Data hygiene & model integrity

Custom entity and field proliferation, OptionSet drift, duplicate records, stale leads and opportunities.

Automation & workflow debt

Classic workflow inventory, Power Automate flow failure rates, plugin inventory, and business rule conflicts.

Licensing & admin cleanup

Inactive users on paid Enterprise seats, Copilot add-ons nobody's using, per-flow vs. per-user licensing, and admin-role sprawl.

Adoption & Copilot / AI readiness

Daily active users vs. licensed users, whether reports are actually opened, and whether the underlying data and security model can support Copilot or AI Builder cleanly.

Integration health

Connector authentication status, sync error queues, data latency, and duplicate record creation across systems.

Plugin & customization inventory

Every registered plugin, its trigger conditions, and whether it's calling a deprecated API.

Structural red flags

Custom data models that fight the standard CE schema, and bulk data imported incorrectly and referenced everywhere.

Five days to full clarity

1

Intake call (Day 1)

Structured discovery of your CE environment, team structure, and top reported pain points.

2

Environment analysis (Days 1–3)

We work through security, data, automation, licenses, adoption, and integrations to map every risk.

3

Findings + roadmap (Days 3–4)

We build the risk register, quick-win list, and 90-day execution roadmap.

4

Debrief call (Day 5)

We walk through everything together, answer questions, and align on immediate next steps.

One fixed fee, no scope surprises

Health check vs. stabilization sprint vs. Dynamics 365 Support Plan

Three different engagements for three different situations. Most clients start with the health check because it tells you honestly which of the other two you actually need — or whether you don't need either yet.

Quick wins you can do yourself

Many findings are fixable in under two hours by whoever already administers the environment. The quick-win list is written so your own team can act on it without further engagement.

Stabilization Sprint

A fixed-scope, fixed-price project to implement the highest-priority risk-register findings — confirmed in writing before work starts.

Discuss a Stabilization Sprint

Dynamics 365 Support Plan

Ongoing senior ownership of the environment once it's stable — administration, configuration, and continued improvement, month to month.

Discuss a Support Plan
Engagement What it is Timeline Fee
Health Check Diagnostic only — full audit, risk register, and 90-day roadmap. No fixes performed. 5 business days Fixed fee
Stabilization Sprint Implementation of the highest-priority health check findings, as a fixed-scope project. See Stabilization Sprint. Scoped to findings Fixed price, agreed in writing
Dynamics 365 Support Plan Ongoing monthly ownership once the environment is stable — the health check fee is credited toward it if started within 30 days. See Dynamics 365 Support Plans. Monthly, ongoing Flat monthly fee

Access & data handling: the health check runs on scoped, delegated access inside your own tenant — never a copy of your data outside it. Access is revocable at any time, and an NDA is available on request. See Security & Data Handling.

Is the health check right for you?

This is for you if:

  • You inherited a CE deployment you didn't build, and nobody fully understands the configuration decisions that were made
  • Your CRM data isn't trusted — pipeline reviews are tense, reps work around the system, forecast accuracy is unreliable
  • You're evaluating AI or Copilot on top of D365 and need to know whether the foundation can support it cleanly
  • Costs are higher than expected — license renewals, storage, or Power Automate billing have grown in ways nobody planned for

Health check questions, answered straight

How much does a D365 health check cost? +
The health check is a fixed fee, agreed in writing after a short intro call and before we start. That covers the full 5-day engagement — environment audit, findings report, risk register, 90-day roadmap, and a 60-minute executive debrief. No hourly billing, no scope surprises. If you start a Dynamics 365 Support Plan within 30 days of delivery, the full fee is credited toward it.
What's the difference between the health check, a stabilization sprint, and a Dynamics 365 Support Plan? +
The health check is diagnostic only — it tells you what's wrong and in what order to fix it, in 5 days, for a fixed fee. A stabilization sprint is a fixed-scope, fixed-price project, agreed in writing before work starts, to implement the highest-priority findings the health check (or your own experience) surfaced. A Dynamics 365 Support Plan is ongoing monthly ownership once the environment is stable. Most engagements start with the health check because you can't scope a sprint or a Support Plan honestly without knowing what's actually broken.
Do we need a Microsoft Gold Partner for this? +
No. Microsoft retired the Gold badge in 2022, and its replacement mostly measures how much Microsoft licensing a firm sells and grows. We don't resell licenses, so we have no reason to sell you more. What matters is who works in your environment. Read the full breakdown.
How long does the health check take? +
Five business days from the intake call. Days 1-3 are the environment audit, days 3-4 build the findings report and roadmap, and day 5 is the debrief call where we walk through everything together.
What access do you need to run the health check? +
Delegated admin access to your CE environment, scoped to read and configuration-review permissions. We document exactly what's needed before the engagement starts, and access can be revoked the moment the debrief call ends.
What areas of D365 CE does the health check actually inspect? +
Security roles and access control, data hygiene and model integrity, automation and workflow debt, license usage and waste, adoption metrics and usage patterns, integration health, plugin inventory, and the structural red flags that turn a tune-up into a rebuild. The full inspection checklist is published on the blog.
What do I actually walk away with? +
A written findings report organized by category, a risk register ranking every issue by business impact, a quick-win list you can act on immediately, a prioritized 90-day remediation roadmap, a one-page executive summary, and a 60-minute executive debrief to walk through it all together.
Do we need to reimplement Dynamics 365 to fix these issues? +
No. The health check does not assume you need a reimplementation. Most environments can be stabilized and improved without a rebuild — the goal is to make the environment you already own work, and the findings report is explicit about which issues are configuration-level fixes versus larger structural decisions.
Is this only for environments that are already broken? +
No. Organizations also run the health check as a baseline before expanding Dynamics 365, adding Copilot or AI capability, or handing the environment to a new administrator — establishing a written picture of the environment before more is built on top of it.
Can a Microsoft partner buy this for a client? +
Yes. Partners can bring DesertCRM in white-label to run a health check on a client's environment. See partner staff augmentation for how white-label delivery works.
